A Walkthrough of Proguard

  • Oct 11, 2016 · 6:30 PM

ProGuard is the optimizer and obfuscator for Java bytecode that is integrated in the Android SDK. It makes applications smaller, faster, and a bit more difficult to reverse engineer. In this presentation, Eric will briefly present some of its technical background. More practically, he'll show the typical improvements that you can expect. He'll also discuss some possible pitfalls and tips to get the best results.

About the Speaker: Eric Lafortune, Founder of Guardsquare

Eric is the creator of the open-source optimizer and obfuscator ProGuard, and its commercial extension DexGuard. He is obsessed with making applications more compact, more efficient, and better protected against attacks. He is the founder and CTO of GuardSquare, where they put this obsession to good use.

It was very informative with useful examples. The volume was a little weak. I can't complain because I sat in a comfy chair in the back beer in hand.
