EBDUG #7 - Small-scale Drupal

Drupal started off as Dries Buytaert's personal project -- an intranet for himself and a few neighbors -- which he released to the world in January of 2001.  12 years later, it now runs some of the largest sites in the world, and a large community of professional developers is devoted to creating Drupal sites that can handle millions of page views.  But can it still handle small sites, created and run entirely by a single developer?  Or does it now require a team to create and maintain a professional-level Drupal site? Help us figure it out, in what is sure to be a thought-provoking gathering.

Also, while Drupal novices have always been warmly welcomed at EBDUG, this month we're starting something new: a brief period before the meeting starts when people new to Drupal can come and get set up.  Do you need help setting up a local development environment?  Is there something you've seen while researching Drupal that doesn't make any sense?  Do you have questions or concerns that you're not comfortable bringing up in front of the group?  Come by and ask in a warm and supportive environment.  This will start a half-hour before the regular meeting -- at 6:00.  Don't be shy, we all started at some point. A few months from now, you'll be the expert.

Found this interesting article in the wake of last night's discussion... http://bit.ly/18882sM coming to the same conclusion. I'd love to see this drive future meetings and help us create the community of independents that we discussed.
