How about visits to:
Montara and Pigeon Point Lighthouses have hostels for overnight or day-use retreats in delightful settings, with sufficient planning/lead time.
On June 24, the USGS Menlo Park Science Center is hosting a free presentation for National Oceans Month -- USGS & Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute shared program -- MBARI speaker Charlie Paull, USGS speaker to be determined.  They could probably pull together a program just for our group if there was enough interest.
