How Do Blended Learning Leaders Choose What To Use?

This EdSurge SF EdTech meetup will bring together blended learning leaders from four very different school systems to discuss how they decide which tech tools are right for their kids and their schools--and which ones get booted.

And what better place for this conversation than in the heart of one of SF's most innovative blended learning schools--Mission Dolores Academy!

Moderated by EdSurge's Christina Quattrocchi, the panel will feature:

• Michele Dawson, Supervisor of EdTech, San Francisco Unified School District

• Caryn Voskuil, Manager of School Model Innovations, Rocketship Education

• Carolyn Wilson, Director of Education, AltSchool

• Dan Storz, Principal, Mission Dolores Academy

The evening will be topped off with tours of Mission Dolores and their blended learning labs!

We welcome everyone from K-12 education, the entrepreneurial community, or just anyone who's interested in what goes on behind the scenes of a blended learning program. Come, learn, and listen to these incredible leaders talk about how they make decisions.

See ya there!

Light snacks and beverages will be provided.

Would love to hear what adaptive tools/curric are being used. One hears of Khan and ST Math, what else is catching on? One way the wisdom of the audience could have been part of the discussion would be if there was a backchannel projected for all to see, like a:

Thank you, EdSurge, for bringing your wonderful community of education innovators to Mission Dolores Academy, and thank you to everyone who attended! We enjoyed hosting the event and will continue to share our "blended learning learnings" with the ed tech community.

If anyone would like to schedule a visit to see our rotational model in action, there's still two weeks of school left! To do so, please contact me at[masked] or [masked].

Great job! Enjoyed the presentation and found it very informative. I thought the feedback in the mic was a classic "high school auditorium" preset, used for nostalgia... :-)

First time going this event. Will dinner be provided? if not, is it okay to bring food?

We'll provide taquitos and chips and salsa from a local restaurant. Not really a meal (unless you eat a lot of them!). There are lots of great restaurants in the neighborhood for grabbing dinner after.

I thought I was signed up already with others from my company, but realized yesterday I hadn't. If I'm on the waitlist now, what does that mean in terms of actually attending tonight?

Yes! I want to go tonight too :) Shall we just show up ;)

Mission Dolores Academy is excited to host EdSurge's first-ever meetup at a school! In true Mission style, drinks will include margaritas, Tecate, and Negro Modelo, with snacks from one of the Mission's top Mexican restaurants. :)

FYI, the school does have a parking lot if you're driving. Enter via the narrow driveway on Church between 16th Street and Chula Lane. It's easy to miss, so drive slowly!

Looking forward to it! It would be soooo useful if EdSurge events could be filmed, so all the people who can't attend can still benefit from the awesome content and discussions. Maybe you guys could partner with BAVC ( or BAYCAT ( for this?
