A lot has changed since 2012 or, according to the New York Times, the "Year of the MOOC." The premise then was that massive open online courses would make high-quality online education accessible for all—and for free. But many providers now charge a fee. And while these companies once tried to distinguish themselves from traditional higher education, popular providers like Coursera and edX are increasingly partnering with colleges and universities to offer MOOC-based degrees online.

So, where are MOOCs today? How will this industry continue to evolve—and how will universities respond?

We’ll answer those questions and more at our next EdSurge meetup on Tuesday, February 12 at 6:30pm at Orrick in San Francisco. Panelists include:

DHAWAL SHAH, founder of Class Central, a website that tracks the MOOC industry and hosts reviews for these online courses

AMY AHEARN, an associate director at Acumen+, where she builds online courses

KAPEESH SARAF, Head of Growth and Consumer Products at Coursera

KRISTIN PALMER, Director of Online Learning Programs at University of Virginia

Stay tuned for more announcements about other panelists. See you in February!
