February: News from your fellow developers!

From: Casey H.
Sent on: Friday, February 10, 2012 10:54 PM

Hello Bay Area Game Development Meetup Group!

This is the first of what will likely be a monthly email letting people from the group share what they are up to.  It could be a job posting or a game they want you to check out.  Please let us know what you think.  Most people that responded were unanimously positive about the idea. If you want to send news in the future, please send it to me exactly as you want it written and make sure you put, "Announcement" in the subject to help me find it.

If you respond to any of these messages, make sure you do not hit "reply all".

Thanks for your time and being part of the group!

All the best,

What We’re Looking for:

●             Ability to create wire-frames, write specifications and white papers

●             Exceptional data analysis skills and a love for finding patterns and actionable conclusions

●             Strong aptitude for determining the optimal way to position products in the market

●             Passionate about playing games, innovation, and about creating entirely new game experiences

●             Outstanding written/oral, organizational, analytical skills and attention to detail

●             Must be a driven self-starter and a team player

●             Experience in multivariate testing and analysis for web based companies is preferred

●             Experience in social networking or start-up environment is a strong plus

●             Past experience in managing teams is a plus

TinyFun is looking for game and server developers for a social gaming startup. Founders include alumni of Zynga, Twitter, Disney, THQ, Activision and more.

We are making games that push the boundaries of what it means to be a social game, in addition to several titles backed by well-known licenses. The ideal candidate focuses on writing quality, reusable, and tested code. We have a studio in Los Angeles and but are also remote worker-friendly (many engineers are distributed across other cities). This is a startup, so be prepared to learn on the job and wear many hats!

We have projects that touch a wide variety of technologies including python (server backend), flash, objective-c, java (android) and we're getting into html5 games as well. Prefer 1 or 2 years of experience, but we have a lot of work, so if you're familiar with or interested in learning any of the above, don't hesitate to get in touch. Lots more details available for interested candidates.

I'm soon to be launching a game - a 1 person puzzle app that uses chess mechanics. I wonder if you'd consider giving a shout out to your group when we launch?

It'll be free to download - we're just looking for testers at the moment. I can send copy and a link nearer the time, I just thought I'd give you a week or two to think about it.

I'd be really grateful if you would consider it - we want some great feedback and your group would be ideal candidates to give us that!

Thanks in advance. Feel free to email me [address removed]

If you want to test his app shoot him an email.
