The State of Universal Health Care in California – Moving Beyond SB 562:
Our speakers will discuss the single payer movement from a health provider’s perspective now that the Healthy California Act has been torpedoed in the Assembly. There will be 3 speakers: a practicing physician, a medical student, and a nurse educator.
--Jeff Gee, MD is a primary care physician who attended UCSF Medical School and the San Francisco General Family Medicine residency program. He has practiced in Daly City and San Francisco (currently in the Mission district) for 35 years. A member of Physicians for a National Health Program, he has been actively organizing for single payer Medicare for All since 2012.
--Chris Cai is second year medical student at UCSF. He co-founded the UCSF chapter of Students for a National Health program and conducts research on the economic benefits of single-payer with Professor Jim Kahn.
--Persphone Gee, RN, PHN, MSN, has been a practicing nurse since 1980 and a teacher at City College of SF since 2011.
