Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests (SNAP) has been providing support for victims of sexual abuse in institutional settings for 30 years. Melonie Sakoda will discuss a trip, recently in the news, of survivors to Rome to meet with the Pope, the addition of 27 Catholic priests accused to the 100 accused in 2018 in the Buffalo Diocese, and Pope Benedict’s statement that the sexual abuse crisis is due to the “moral laxity that swept the west in the 1960’s.”

Melanie Sakoda, a SNAP leader in the Bay Area who has served on the
SNAP Board of Directors for over two years and how works for SNAP in
Survivor Support. In 1999 she formed a website to reach out to survivors of abuse in the Orthodox Christian churches, before joining SNAP. She facilitates a monthly support meeting in Walnut Creek at the John Muir Hospital and can be contacted at [masked] or[masked].
