Houseboat Delta Discovery Tour:  3 days in a hidden paradise

Dates: Oct. 11th-13th & Oct. 18th-20th

This Three Day, all inclusive retreat to the hidden treasures of the famous California Delta offers a cornucopia of watersports, great food and drink, exploration and relaxation for singles, couples and photo adventurers.

The California Delta is the best kept secret of Northern California. The Delta has over 1,000 miles of amazing waterways, Secret coves, historic towns, great hikes, charming waterfront bars & restaurants, and so much more to explore.

Come travel with us into a world of years gone by and unwind with a private chef and personal watersports instructor where you will learn to sail, paddle board and windsurf, or just relax on our 50+ foot houseboat!

See the delta where towns are frozen in time from the Gold Rush era when paddlewheel steamboats filled the warm waters of the Delta. As we explore this historic waterway of over 1,300 miles of winding rivers, we will witness Drawbridges yawn open to let us pass. We will see lumbering cable-drawn car ferries. You may even catch the postman deliver mail by boat!

We will have ample time to  relax, tour wineries and historic businesses, as well as learn a new sport with included group instruction and use of a Hobie wave 4 person sailboat,  a paddleboard, and windsurf/paddle board combo.

*Meals and beverages all inclusive (see itinerary below)

Daily Itinerary- 3 Day Houseboat adventure

Day 1 Friday: Departure time: 9AM (B,L,D)

Bird Watching and coffee/ continental Breakfast Swimming and lunch on the river Water sports instruction Tour of the town and Saloon visit Movie night

Bright and early, exchange your Friday commute to work with a surprisingly short 1+ hour drive from the Bay Area to our Delta  marina (near Stockton).

Once you settle in, the boat will depart the dock.  This is the start of our relaxing back road adventure, where the sites come to us!

You will likely see flocks of migrating birds darkening the sky or gawky great blue herons foraging in open fields. You notice oak trees reflected in water and open fields of quiet farmland. The pace of life slows—you're on Delta time now

If you’re lucky, we will see double-crested cormorants and northern shovelers.  If you're very lucky, you may sight a white-faced ibis or a green-backed heron. This is a photographers delight!  Our chef will have lunch prepared, and served as we make our way to the charming historic town of Locke.  We will stop along the way at Mandeville point, anchor and dive into the welcoming waters of the delta.

Once we arrive at our beautiful, jungle slew, a walk through the forest will deliver us to the historic Chinese worker, turned artist town.

This is one of the most evocative towns along the Delta, built in 1915 by and for Chinese agricultural workers. Known in its heyday for worldly attractions like gambling, hooch, and opium, Locke was also a vibrant Chinese community with its own grocery stores and school.  When we arrive, we will get a watersports lesson on the sailboat and go out for an afternoon sail. You get to be at the helm if you wish (instructor by your side)! You can also paddle board or jump on the windsurfer after a lesson.

Next, we get ready to have a drink at the not to be missed  Al The Wop's Saloon. For those who prefer you can hike in the wooded wonderland, or just relax in the peaceful cove where we’re anchored.

The day will end with sipping drinks on the top deck, witnessing the colors of sky dance on the water as the sun slips into the west. A delicious meal will be waiting for you, as well as an outdoor movie viewing for those interested.

Day 2 Saturday: Wineries and the water (B, L, D)

Winery tours Museum and Art towns Farm tours

A gourmet breakfast will start our day. Some will jump off the boat for a morning swim in the welcoming waters. Others will wander into Walnut Grove, a short walk to the next town over for some early morning shots of the historic buildings. After breakfast and a windsurf lesson for those interested, we will hike over to an organic farm (optional) and see how a biodynamic farm operates. Then we are off to 6 Hands Winery, sampling these small vineyard, hand crafted wines. After an epic picnic lunch, we will head back to the boat for 1 on 1 sailing lessons, swimming, and some R&R

As the evening approaches, we will settle in for dinner and another magical night a million miles from home.

Day 3 Sunday:  (B, L)

Bird watching Sailing Paddle boarding and windsurf instruction Hiking (depending on time)

Early the next morning we will slip out of the mooring and discover more treasures of the Delta. We will enjoy breakfast as the serene banks of this great waterway pass by.

Around  noon we will arrive at Bethel Island,  just in time to catch some smooth water paddle boarding and swimming. As the wind brushes the water in the early noon hours we will get the sailboat ready and enjoy some smooth sailing across Franks Track: A five mile body of water. We will slowly motor back, getting in more bird watching  and arrive back at the marina in time for an easy drive back to civilization.
