CastTV is the San Francisco unit of Tribune Media Services, the leading provider of entertainment information to clients like Microsoft, Google, TiVo, Comcast, IMDb, and more. CastTV provides a unique work environment: complex and interesting problems, an agile startup-like atmosphere, and the resources of one of the country’s leading media companies. We are looking for exceptional software engineers interested in helping us build the “Big Data” platform necessary to power existing and new products. Your work will impact millions of consumers and perhaps even you, when you turn on your DVR or go to your favorite video website.

As a core member of the CastTV technology team, develop technology for products used by millions of users, via and leading customers. Responsibilities may include:
•Data acquisition: Develop, maintain, and operate software to acquire data from structured and unstructured sources
•Data management: Aggregate, clean, merge, map, and curate data
•Tools: Build and/or select tools to automate, scale, and streamline all aspects of data operations
•API: Build APIs for internal and external consumption
•Search: Improve one of the web’s best video search engines
•Apps: Build consumer-facing websites and mobile/set-top box applications

•B.S. in Computer Science or related experience
•Fluency in Ruby, Python, or another similar language
•Interest in both traditional and NoSQL database technologies. Can articulate when to use which
•Love data, lots of it
•Experience with web crawling and data scraping a plus
•2+ years industry experience ideal; recent grads with strong project/open-source portfolios are welcome to apply
