This is the first day of a two-day outreach workshop. If you're coming, both days are required. doesn't allow a single event to span multiple days, so they are separate events on the calendar, but if you are coming you need to RSVP yes for both. Click here to RSVP for Saturday. (

Our first outreach workshop ( was a great success, so we're doing it again! This workshop is for women who want to learn Ruby on Rails. Anyone who self-identifies as female is welcome to register. Guys, you're welcome to attend as well, as the +1 of a women who's learning Ruby. So find a friend and have her register!

In this workshop, we'll take you through building a complete web application using Ruby on Rails. By the end of the day, you'll have an application on the internet that connects to a database and reads and writes information.

Friday, July 31st, 6-9pm: installfest and mixer. Volunteers will help you get your laptop ready to run Ruby and Rails.

Saturday, August 1st, 10am-4pm: write code. Leave with a web application you built!

Total programming novices, system administrators, developers in other languages, and folks who attended our first workshop are all welcome. We'll have 5-7 different classes separated by experience level. Each participant needs to bring their own computer. Childcare and private space for nursing or pumping is available.

When you RSVP, you'll see some questions about your computer and programming experience. Please answer them in as much detail as you can - it will help us figure out how allocate class space.

Don't forget to RSVP for Saturday too! (
