How did you hear about our group?

I graduated from the University of Florida and received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. Compelled by the grim outlook for students in low-income communities, I joined Teach For America in 2007 as a high school science teacher in Buckeye, Arizona. During my time in Arizona, I taught a general science course for freshmen, developed a Forensic Science course for high school upperclassmen, acted as a National Honor Society adviser, and coordinated the local science fair. In 2009, I returned to research after being accepted into the UC Berkeley-UCSF Graduate Program in Bioengineering, where I studied how body shape was related to diabetes. After finishing my PhD in 2013, I joined Teach For America as a Director of National Alliances focusing on STEM and LGBTQ portfolios.
