Do you want Zimbra to participate? Let me know if you want, I will speak to Zimbra to request for support as my company, CommGate is the Master Distributor of Zimbra in Asia-Pacific.

Stay driven!

Subject: [linux-5] Fw: Last burst effort for SFDS 2010 @ 18 Sep 2010

Hi all,

We just had a meeting last week on SFDS 2010.
Thanks to David's great effort, we managed to carry on to this point, despite Tom and I (and several others) being pulled away by heavy work commitment.

However, David needs more support and SFDS 2010 deserve more effort and attention from all of us.  We had to make the decision to cancel or to carry on the SFDS 2010.  We made the decision to charge on and NLB also would like us to continue, as the event is already on their calendar.

Hence, I am urging all of us in the lugs, meetup, fosa-discuss, fosa-exco etc. to come forward to make SFDS 2010 a credible event.  I personally am also postponing my travel until the event is over on Sat 18 Sep 2010.

Key areas where we need help:
a. Exhibition at main plaza
- we now have around 10 confirmed exhibitors.  We hope all the other FOSS groups in Singapore can come in and participate.  Go ahead and email or call me or David, to confirm your participation.  Also, we are looking for more consumer-friendly display and demo of FOSS applications and devices, primarily since the demographics of NLB crowd are general public and non-techies.

- we target to have at least 20 exhibition stand, showcasing the various FOSS applications, groups and devices.

- we hope the various schools FOSS groups can also come in (NTU, NUSS, SMU, TP, ITE etc)

b. Media and Publicity
Please help us with publicity and help spread the word on SFDS 2010 - online and offline.  This should include
- Facebook fan site,
- IM/email your friends
- show SFDS 2010 on your IM status
- post on forums, blog, wikis, tweets,
- youtube videos
- school or company notice boards, e-newsletters
- mailing lists
- publications etc

c. Giveaways
We are looking for free software DVD, or distro installs to giveaway at the show.  Or even prizes to giveaway at the event to make it more exciting.

Any other ideas or contributions that you can make to the success of SFDS 2010, please do not hesitate to contact me or David. We have only less than one month to go, so we need all the help we can get from everywhere.

Lastly, we hope everyone will make special effort to be at SFDS 2010.  We have also resolved to keep the monthly meetup as it help to keep the group together and the momentum going.

Thanks and best regards,
Darrel Chua
