RE: [linux-5] Ways to counter DDoS for TOC

Afternoon,

Best option is to go with offshore hosting like US or UK with large amounts
of burstable bandwidth that can handle such DDos and Brute force attacks. No
firewall or softwall will stop a direct hit to most providers.

Singapore is far too expensive to buy, 1 - 2 GB Burstable Lined to be able
to manage with such attacks.

Softlayer and theplanet maybe the best option for susceptible websites.

Regards

Greg

anyone able to suggest some solutions for this? They are currently on shared
hosting. Will moving to VPS hosting be sufficient, or is a dedicated server
required? And are there any personal recommendations?
If not already done, IP-banning via a firewall can be used if the site is
hosted
on a VPS or dedicated server. It won't completely solve the issue, but it
should
mitigate it a little.
