Special class added: Intro to Shamanism - the Power Animal Journey

The ability to intentionally shift into a trance state and commune with your guides and guardians on the spirit plane is an asset to many spiritual paths, and the shamanic journey is one very dependable means of doing that. This 2-hour class is an experiential introduction to Core Shamanism through the power animal journey. If you’re wondering what shamanism is or how it might compliment (or might
be) your spiritual path, this is a great place to start. There’s a bit of talk — explaining terminology, procedures and such — but then we move into the journey itself. Please bring note-taking materials and (optional) a scarf to cover your eyes while journeying. There is no charge for this class, but a small donation to the JUC CUUPS group would be thoughtful. (CUUPS = Covenant of Unitarian Universalist Pagans, which promotes networking among Pagan-identified Unitarian Universalists, and provides for the outreach of Unitarian Universalism to the broader Pagan community.) Childcare will be available, by donation from participating parents to the babysitter. We'll start at 7 pm and finish by 9 pm. The church is located on West 32nd Avenue about 1 mile west of I-70. Take the 32nd Avenue/Youngfield and continue west from the highway. As you head west, the church will be on your left, across from the Applewood Golf Course. Teacher Renna Shesso trained in core shamanism healing and teaching techniques through Michael Harner's Foundation for Shamanic Studies, and with Sandra Ingerman (author of
Soul Retrieval), including Ingerman's rigorous Two-Year Teaching Training. Shesso has taught shamanic workshops with groups and individuals since 1989, and has had a shamanic healing practice since 1991. See more at

I had much of my information about Shamanism reenforced. I enjoyed the drumming but, the journey was non-existent. I believe, in my case, that my religious background had something to do with it. As much as I WANTED to find my Power Animal..the farthest I got was clouds and the sound of the drum. I have never been able to be hypnotized and perhaps am not able to "let go" to journey. I would continue to attend drumming circles and wish the Shaman Power Animal Jouney instructors more students much success.

Renna is so very clear, precise and an excellent teacher. I had a great experience!! This workshop helped to clarify so many questions I had about Shamanic Journeying--in fact, it has peaked my interest to learn more. I look forward to attending other Meet Up events with Renna!
