Every month: We gather, welcome the helping spirits with some brief ceremony, and then move to the main purpose of this beautiful, supportive group: To explore the ancient practices of shamanism and bring that knowledge home into our own hearts and lives.
We open with some formal ceremony to greet the Four Directions and all of the helping spirits.
Then we'll have drumming, rattling, some dancing, and especially shamanic journeying...
We usually have time for three different journeys, some geared toward our individual, personal work, others geared towards how we "ripple out" into the world. The shifts of season, Moon and Sun help shape our themes. We often have some sharing, and some discussion/Q&A, but mainly we're actively journeying, the avenue of spiritual connection at the heart of this practice.
The door to this Circle is reasonably wide open, with some mutual agreements among those who enter here. We can't compel our spirit-plane allies to show up, so we approach with curiosity and humility to invite them. To create the best possible gathering for all of us, prior shamanic journeying experience is recommended.* Shared respect for the etiquette of coming together in Circle, to intentionally co-create ceremonial space, allows us to work well and deeply.** Please scroll down below the picture to read the * and ** notes.
At 9 PM, we'll formally close the circle with lots of blessings and Thanks for the helping Spirits.
Bring: Drums, rattles, note-taking materials, perhaps something to lay on, something to cover your eyes with (if you prefer total darkness). Especially bring your good intentions!
Time: 7 PM - 9 PM. First-time attendees, please come 10-15 minutes early, so we can meet each other before the lights go out! Remember, the shop closes at 7 PM, so being late probably means being locked out - please don't let this happen to you!
By donation: $5 - $10, please, to support the rental of this great location.
Facilitated by Renna Shesso. For questions, other information and workshops, please look at our Meetup calendar or see my pages
* About journeying: Knowing how to journey allows you to fully participate in this gathering - it's more fun and more useful. Experiences in other spiritual traditions, worthy as they are, are not automatically interchangeable with knowing how to journey. If you are rock-bottom new and unacquainted with the basics of shamanic journeying, please prepare: Take a beginning workshop (2-hour and weekend versions are listed in our events and on my page), find other teachers, work with one of Sandra Ingerman's Sound True recordings or on-line courses, or attend The Shamanic Way: Accessing Answers Within Meetup, which is more geared to be an introduction to this path. However you come to it, shamanic journeying is a specific skill well worth acquiring! Since it is the sole thing we have in common in this group, we do take it seriously.
These terms are defined more fully on our "About us..." page. Please read that, and if you're still not sure if what you do might be a good fit here, please message me, Renna, before attending.
** "Ceremonial or Circle etiquette": Respect for the "manners" of coming together in Circle, to intentionally co-create ceremonial space, is both expected and deeply appreciated. Prior experience of being in ceremony, in spiritual gatherings, is useful, but this is also a place where these practices can be learned. For these two hours, we want to work together harmoniously, supporting a good journeying atmosphere for each other and in turn being supported.
Much of this is just basic polite behavior: Treating each other with kindness and consideration. Please bring a reasonably open mind and heart, and a willingness to be an active participant in this gathering.
How things are done here may not match your usual personal practices, but while we're together here, we're agreeing to do it this way. Come with spirit-allies, not with ego, and with the intention to create a place for fruitful experiences in a safe environment. Ideally, this gathering can work well for all of us.
"Safe environment" also means no alcohol, no drugs, no ingested consciousness-altering plant allies, but especially no toxic attitudes or drama. For these two hours, we work together harmoniously...
If you feel you can flow along with this, please join us.
Refunds are not offered for this Meetup.
