What we're about

We offer guided meditation and yoga Sunday mornings in Cuvier Park, La Jolla. This incredible setting is tucked away just below street level and overlooks the ocean and nearby cliffs. This is a new location for us (and a popular wedding venue at times), so we may need to move to another spot in the park depending on other events happening that morning. We'll provide updates if needed on the morning of the event.

These sessions are open to all levels. If you have any concerns, contact us and we'll be happy to answer your questions.

ABOUT US

Kate
RYT 200 Yoga Instructor

Kate was introduced to yoga eight years ago in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, before moving to San Diego in 2016. While navigating the isolation and stress that came along with adjusting to a new city, she found herself returning to the mat everyday. Through continued study of breath and movement she discovered a physical, mental, and emotional shift. Yoga not only created physical space. It deepened her experience of inner peace, leading to greater mindfulness and compassion toward herself and others. She completed her teacher training at The House of Yogi in April 2018.

Kate has always been passionate about health both on and off the mat. As a Physician Assistant, she’s dedicated her life to serving others. She's provided health services to children in Nepal, remote tribes in Alaska, as well as underserved populations in the Milwaukee and Chicago areas. Today she specializes in Infectious Disease in Southern California. Applying her diverse experience in health and wellness, she inspires people to care for their whole self—body, mind, and spirit.

Mia
Meditation

Mia is a meditation practitioner, documentary photographer, and designer. Her interest in meditation began as a teenager after reading the book, Siddhartha. Having been in search of deeper meaning from a young age, she dropped out of high school and moved to a yoga ashram where she developed her personal yoga and meditation practice studying with swamis, pundits, and numerous yoga instructors.

Since then she's moved around the world, working in the US, Canada, Switzerland, Haiti, and the UK. In 2001 she began studying Mahayana Buddhism and continues to study to this day. Although she’s been practicing meditation for over 23 years, she's new to teaching it. She brings her passion and personal experience to the mat with a deep wish to make meditation accessible to everyone, especially those who may have struggled with it in the past.

Shrine & Stone is our collective home, where we create and raise awareness. In addition to yoga and meditation, we are jewelry designers and storytellers. We make malas and travel, partnering with underrepresented artisans and documenting their lives and their work to share a range of products that tell a unique story.

Outdoor Yoga & Meditation in La Jolla

LOCATION Enjoy a Sunday morning practice overlooking the ocean and nearby La Jolla cliffs at Cuvier Park. It's one of the most beautiful places we could imagine spending a meditation and yoga session together. ITINERARY 8:50 - 9:00 Arrival/Setup 9:00 - 9:15 Guided Meditation 9:15 - 10:15 All Levels Yoga Flow WHAT TO BRING • Yoga mat • Yoga blanket or large towel – the ground will be damp • Extra layers if it's cold • Water • Sunscreen/sunglasses as needed • Meditation cushion or bolster (optional) WHAT TO EXPECT Plenty of street parking should be available. Please allow yourself a few extra moments to set up. We will begin with 15 minutes of meditation, followed by 1 hour of yoga. Please bring your yoga mat and a meditation cushion or bolster if you prefer support while sitting. You will also need a large towel or yoga blanket to place under your mat when you arrive. The grass is watered every night and will still be damp in the morning. These sessions are open to all levels. You do not need to have any prior experience with meditation or yoga. We will offer a variety of options – this is your practice. Take whatever options serve your practice at that moment, and modify or skip as needed. There is a $10 suggested donation.
