Shropshire Pathfinders

We start this walk from Longden Village hall (SY5 8EX) just to the south-west of Shrewsbury. There is also some extra parking in the side roads of Longden Village but avoid the Tankerville Arms which is now closed for good. The walk is about 6 miles moderate with some ascents and descents on mostly field paths and woodland and some minor roads. We will take a short break at the Lyd Holes waterfall (as pictured) then continue across fields to Plealey and eventually returning to Longden.
For those who require post-walk refreshment there is the Red Lion only a mile and a half along the main road to Longden Common (SY5 8AE). Dogs, only on a lead, please.

This is a walk which starts at the Cunnery Road Car Park in Church Stretton (free) Nearest Postcode is SY6 6AF or riding.count.samplers W3W. Turn right off A49 into Church Stretton then second traffic lights turn left proceed for a few hundred yards then Cunnery Road on your right twists and turns uphill past HF Holiday house and car park is just past on right, Can be crowded on Sunday so suggest you get there early but there is space on nearby side-roads,
It is strenous in parts and rarely flat proceeding through Rectory Wood towards Townbrook Reservoir and then down into Carding Mill Valley. Now an Up path towards the Golf Club with stunning views of the Long Mynd, The Lawleys , Caer Caradoc and the Wrekin.
Eventually into Cymdale and the Batch Valley with multiple ascents and descents finally returning via the war memorial and St Laurence's Church which has a pagan fertility symbol on the North doorway before a final steep field path up rectory wood back to the car park, Total distance is 5 to 6 miles but will feel more with the ups and downs. Short stop halfway, as usual, Afterwards we have the Pound Inn at Leebotwood (4 miles away) for a post-activity refresh. Owners of dogs on a lead, please, as many farm animals in evidence.

This is a moderate walk starting at St Mary's Car park (TF13 6HD) in the centre of Much Wenlock where parking is free on Sundays (lots of parking in side roads if needed). It goes out past the Abbey and is about 6.5miles in length. The walk proceeds via field paths and lanes and there is a short sharp rise into Wyke to trouble us (few hundred yards only). Dogs only on a leash please. A few stiles but nothing troublesome. Usual short break halfway so bring a drink and snack. The walk will start promptly at 10am. After the walk there are many hostelries we can use for refreshment if you so desire and all close to the parking.
