Secular Humanist Society of New York Pages

The Secular Humanist Society of New York recently celebrated its 20th anniversary with a luxe luncheon at The Players Club in Manhattan. It is a very active organization that publishes a monthly newsletter, PIQUE, including debates and essays, as well as information about Society activity. Rich Sander, a member of the SHSNY, has invited us to put our name on this Meet-up and provide another opportunity for Meet-up members to share in Society activity.

Among the regular activities of the Society are a book club, a movie night, and an informal Sunday brunch each month. In addition, we have now added a theater group which we've formed jointly with CFI-NYC, (New York City outpost of the Center for Inquiry). We expect to be broadcasting our own television programs later this year.

Be sure to check out ALL upcoming activity, in addition to the next one featured on the welcome page. Click on "Calendar" for more events, and click on "Files" for advance summaries of books, films, etc., including a copy of my most recent book review published in Free Inquiry. One of our members, Austin Dacey, will be discussing his own newly-published and highly-acclaimed book at our book club meeting in June.

John Rafferty, President of the Society and PIQUE Editor; and Elaine Lynn, Secretary of the Society and Book Club Leader; are now Assistant Organizers of this SHSNY Meet-up. Click on the envelopes next to our names (under Members) to contact us directly, or use the Meet-up Message Board and e-mail to share your thoughts with everyone. You can learn more about the organizations at and

Formal membership in the Society is not required for the SHSNY Meet-up.
