• Shut Up & Write!™ Dumbo Brooklyn
Join us for an hour of writing! You can write anything you want to, doesn't have to be for a specific project. No one will see what you've written or give you unsolicited advice. Just come write! We usually meet every week, even though it says we meet every other week. Check the Shut Up & Write calendar to see all the dates. IMPORTANT: there are a limited number of spots. RSVP only if you can make it, and update as soon as possible if your plans change. Be kind to those waiting for spots to open. BEING LATE IS OKAY: just show up and get settled, then check-in with me after the session. (I’ll be the person with the Shut Up & Write! sign.) If you were on time, please be willing to make room for the friendly latecomer. SCHEDULE: 6:45p - quick intros. 7:00p - timer starts: write for 1 hour. 8:00p - timer ends. You are welcome to chat / take off / keep writing. OPTIONAL SOCIALIZING: happens at 8:00p. Writing is very solitary. Connecting (and sometimes even commiserating) with other writers is a cool thing. What Should I Bring? Whatever you need to be able to write! Bring earbuds/earplugs if you want to block the cafe’s overhead music or the occasional conversation by other patrons. Come with your laptop fully charged, a backup battery, or a portable battery charging pack if you need to. Please note, there is no Wifi available. TRAVEL: F and A/C trains are the closest. F train stop is York. Turn right as you come out of the station. Cross the intersection and walk one block, make a left onto Front St., make a right onto Pearl St. A/C train stop is High Street station, get out the Adams St. exit, make a right as you come out of the station, and walk to the intersection. Then turn left onto Pearl St. PARKING: There is limited street parking in Dumbo. If you need it, Park Kwik parking garage is located at 85 Adams St. GUIDELINES: Please thank our hosts by purchasing something.

Join us for an hour of writing! We’ve discovered that it’s strikingly helpful to write with other writers. See if it’s true for you at 8PM on Sunday evenings. Be it a book, blog, script, essay, dissertation, resume, melody, poem or just plain work stuff, you are invited to write it with us. No one will see what you've written or give you unsolicited advice. Instead of just thinking about writing, come and get some real writing done. SCHEDULE: 8:00 - SESSION 1: quick intros. 8:15 - timer starts: write for 1 hour. 9:15 - (the end) chat / take off / keep writing. Argo Tea closes at 10PM. OPTIONAL SOCIALIZING happens at 9:15. Writing is very solitary. Connecting (and sometimes even commiserating) with other writers is a cool thing. BEING LATE IS OKAY: just show up and get settled, then check-in with me after the session. (I’ll be the person with the Shut Up & Write! sign or smiling/waving at you when you walk in.) If you were on time, please be willing to make room for the friendly latecomer. Happy writing and I look forward to seeing you at Argo! What Should I Bring? Whatever you need to be able to write! Bring earbuds/earplugs if you want to block the cafe’s overhead music or the occasional conversation by other patrons. There are outlets under the table and on the walls but always good to charge ahead. Other Important Details: Argo has WiFi code on the receipt but LinkNYC is available too. TRAVEL / PARKING: Argo is at 1792 Broadway and 58th Street. Take the 1, A, C, E, D to Columbus Circle or walk from the F, N, W, Q on 57th Street. SEATING INFORMATION: We tend to meet at the big table and some come early to claim the spot. If you get separated, you can still join us for intros or reunite with us after the hour. The deep end of the cafe usually gets closed off early so we advise you not to sit there. GUIDELINES: Please thank our hosts by purchasing something.
