Hi Writers,

Hope to see you at this weeks critique session. Remember you can attend and just listen to the work presented, offer your input or present your own work. If you would like to present work, just email me and let me know what type of work you want to present and how many pages you have (max 20).

Look forward to seeing you Thursday.

Here are the details:

Announcing a new Meetup for Shut Up and Write! SF Bay Area!

What: Shut Up & Write! Monthly Critique Session

When: Wednesday, November 3,[masked]:00 PM

Where: Borderlands Cafe
870 Valencia Street
San Francisco, CA 94110

Shut Up & Write now has a monthly supportive and positive critique session!

Perhaps the most challenging task the writer faces is editing his or her own work. This is where feedback from other writers can be invaluable. The goal of the Shut Up & Write Critique Session is to provide constructive feedback in a supportive environment. Here are the details on what it is and how it works:

A SU&W! session where work is presented and comments are given.

How it Works
Each session two writers will present their work. Writers may read their own material or arrange for someone else in the group to read it for them. (In the case of a play or screen play, several people can be enlisted to read the various parts.) After the reading, the writer will invite ?notes? from the audience on the work. All comments must be constructive. Those who comment are asked to say what they liked about the piece first and then provide their constructive critique. Writers are asked to keep the material to a maximum of 20 minutes (generally 20 pages). Comments are taken for about 20 minutes. There is a 10 minute mixer period prior to the readings. Thus the total session runs about 1.5 hours.

Note that you do not have to present work to attend. You can simply be part of the "audience." Audience members can choose to provide comments or not; it's up to the individual.

That?s it.

About the Venue
We'll be meeting at Borderlands Cafe, 870 Valencia Street, San Francisco, CA 94110, (415)[masked]. Borderlands is very supportive of the San Francisco writing community. We will meet in the back of the Cafe, which is quite and secluded.

Submission & Signup
There is no requirement to submit your work prior to presenting it. If you are interesting in presenting simply email me with the type of material (novel, poem, screenplay, short story, etc.) and how many pages you have to present.

Do not hesitate to contact me or Rennie if you have any questions, comments or suggestions.
