Join us for 1-2 hours of writing! We’ve discovered that it’s strikingly helpful to write with other writers. See if it’s true for you at 9:00 a.m. on Monday Mornings. We meet in one of the upstairs conference or study rooms at the Champaign Library.
Be it a book, blog, script, essay, dissertation, resume, melody, poem or just plain work stuff, you are invited to write it with us. No one will see what you've written or give you unsolicited advice. Instead of just thinking about writing, come and get some real writing done.
9:00-9:15 quick introductions and networking.
9:15 - timer starts: write for 1 hour.
10:15 - interval timer -- those who need to leave can do so, or newcomers can settle in. Great time to get a beverage or stretch your legs.
10:20 - final hour timer starts
11:20 -timer stops: attendees may chat, leave, or keep writing.
Optional Socializing happens at 11:20. Since writing is so solitary, connecting with other writers can help with the isolation of sitting alone with just you and your manuscript.
BEING LATE IS FINE! Just show up and get settled, then check-in with me at the one hour break or after the session. (I’ll be the person with the Shut Up & Write! sign.) Everyone should please be willing to make room for the friendly latecomer.
Happy writing and I look forward to seeing you at the Champaign Public Library!
What Should I Bring?
Whatever you need to be able to write! Your laptop or notebook, and
earbuds/earplugs and music if you want to listen to music. The rooms are very quiet.
Other Important Details:
The library has free wifi and parking. There is a cafe on the first floor -- beverages are ok, though the policy for the conference rooms prohibits food.
