Spring is here, and the foothills are alive with the sights and sounds of local and migratory birds. Join us for another beautiful spring evening of walking and bird watching in Hahamongna Park, a local hotspot where Acorn Woodpeckers, Red Tailed Hawks, Phainopeplas, Blue Grey Gnatcatchers, Hooded Orioles, Western and Cassin's Kingbirds, Allen's and Anna's Hummingbirds, Yellow Rumped Warblers, and Yellow Warblers may be seen. Due to recent unusually warm weather, we don't know what we'll see this time, but we're curious to find out.
We'll walk at a leisurely pace, stopping to listen and see birds along the way, for 2 miles round trip with minimal elevation gain and a few small hill climbs.
Because this is a dry arroyo, it is very dusty in places. Please wear comfortable, sturdy hiking shoes or boots that you don't mind getting dirty.
Bring: sturdy footwear, hydration, snacks, binoculars if you have them, and the Merlin birding app pre-loaded on your phone.
Find the Merlin app here: https://merlin.allaboutbirds.org/
Dogs: Very well behaved dogs that are able to stand still and remain quiet are welcome to join us.
Level: Easy.
