  • Our destination: deep snow and a winter wonderland. You will be surrounded by the majestic terrain of Rocky Mountain National Park. Enjoy the snowy sights of winter and make this a day to remember while we make our way up to Mills Lake on this moderate 6 mile out and back trail with a 1,000 foot elevation gain over 3 miles.

The trip will take close to 5 hours to complete, well before sunset. We will pass the frozen 30-foot Alberta Falls and continue past as we gain elevation until we hit Glacier Gorge. This majestic view will be breathtaking for any season. We will proceed through Glacier Gorge before dipping down a bit in elevation before our last hike up reaching the frozen Mills Lake with Long's Peak in the background.

You'll want to bring your lunch for this trip and no fears we will end it with a stop for some hot drinks at Inkwell & Brew in downtown Estes Park.

This outing is limited to 6 people on MeetUp. The remaining 6 spots will be avaliable via our calendar on our Colorado Sierra Club website. If MeetUp is full it is advised to sign up there.

    Carpool:

We will carpool from the Denver region from the US 36 & Sheridan Station at 7:30 am and arrive at the Beaver Meadows Visitor Center around 9:30 am. We will meet in the back of the parking lot and carpool from the parking lot to the Glacier Gorge trailhead. In the case that the trailhead is full we will head to the Bears Lake parking area. Please indicate if you wish to carpool. If you are arriving from Fort Collins, Boulder, Colorado Springs or even a local resident from Estes Park please just indicate you wish to carpool and we will hook you up with others that wish to carpool from your city.
