For thousands of years, gray wolves inhabited the Rocky Mountains and the Great Plains, including every county in Colorado. Because of State and Federally funded effort to exterminate them, the last wolf in Colorado died in a Federal leghold trap in Conejos County in 1945. Now, these apex, critical carnivores are no longer part of Colorado’s natural landscapes.
Our Wolf Campaign seeks to reintroduce wolves to Colorado by bringing awareness of the wolf’s ecological and environmental value to Colorado’s citizens and decision makers. In Yellowstone National Park, where wolves were reintroduced in 1995, they have been key to restoring vital ecosystem connection and supporting the recovery of healthy of Yellowstone landscapes.
Please join us to learn how we can work together to bring wolves back home to Colorado. All are welcome!
