Mt. Dade

  • This location is shown only to members

Mt. Dade. A beautiful thirteener with classic routes such as the Hourglass Couloir, North Face and Cat's Ears Couloir. Maximum 8. For current SMC members only. Not a member yet? Join here.

Friday we'll gather at 9:00 am at the trailhead. We'll go over gear and safety and travel a few miles to basecamp . Once camp is established we'll do some recon, hiking around to look at Mt. Dade. We may climb partway up Treasure Peak for a great view. Our goal is to split into teams for the following days objectives. We'll return to camp in the evening to enjoy a hot meal and some rest.

Saturday we'll head out early to climb Mt. Dade or another peak. We'll return to camp in the afternoon, pack up and be back out at the cars by 8:00 pm at the latest.

Thanks a lot Darren for leading this hike. It was a wonderful experience for me even though I didn't make it to the summit. Great group of people...

All: Myself, Anna, Brian, and Ankush are carpooling together and plan to camp around Tahoe Saturday night, driving back to the Sacramento area Sunday morning. Since we'll be getting back around lunch time on Sunday, I figured it would be a good excuse to break out the grill and jump in the pool. I'm extending this invitation to everyone going on the Mt Dade trip. So, if you want, you can factor in a shower, dip in the pool/hot tub, and a BBQ lunch (vegan options available Lijo :-) at my house before heading home. I live 5 minutes north of Hwy 50 near Folsom. We can talk about it more during our trip, and for now, the only thing to remember would be to bring a swimming suit with you in case you decide to come by.

I am coordinating the event, but Rick Bauer is the EL. We will be splitting up into teams, so each separate team will have a different leader.

I will be coming in on Tuesday with the Ricks Epic group. I will meet the Mt. Dade climbers on Friday at the trailhead to bring you all safely in to basecamp.
