Family Camping at Shimp’s Hollow Germantown
Bring your family and join us for a tent camping event at one of the “front-country” campsites in Dayton’s Germantown Metropark. The site is accessible by car, or optionally join one of our outings leaders for a beginner backpacking hike of about 3 miles into the site. Sierra Club will offer several optional activities that afternoon and evening, details TBD.
No age restrictions but all minors MUST be accompanied by a parent or guardian. You will be asked to sign a waiver (see link below) the day of the event, and we are asking a $10 donation from each family to cover the cost of the site and support our environmental advocacy and educational programs.
Shimp's Hollow is a primitive campground with outhouse privy's, and no potable water. We will be bringing drinking water, but you may want to bring your own for convenience.
If you are car-camping (driving to the campsite) meet us at 12:00 at Shimp’s Hollow Group Camp, 7350 Boomershine Road, Germantown Ohio. If you would like to join us for the short backpacking experience, meet at 9:00 at the TVT Overnight Parking and Trailhead, 6206 Boomershine Road, Germantown Ohio.
We practice “Leave No Trace” so ALL trash must be removed from the campground after the event, food must be stored responsibly overnight out of reach of animals, and fires are permitted only in the designated fire ring. If you have any questions, contact Barry Randall, firstname.lastname@example.org or 513-607-4515.
