It was a great event with friendly people and good food courtesy of VeganBurg. Dan and Claudia planned this well. My wife and I loved the experience.

A brilliant way to spend a Sunday afternoon - very relaxing, great company, great food and all in a great cause......what more could you ask for!

Entirely — it was not my intention to take the focus away from the event. It's great that you're organising a fundraiser. SPCA could do with more help.

This fundraiser/meetup will provide funds to have a commercial go on Channel 5 encouraging people to adopt these animals that have no home. This will save their lives and help save others. This is only a good thing. I'm thrilled that the 17 people coming get that and more would if they could. There are still 5 spots left. Please help these animals find homes and have a great time in the process ;-) If you don't agree, I feel this isn't the appropriate place to protest No offence/disrespect.

Agree, education, legislation and sound enforcement will be the appropriate solution. Let's not crowd this thread with this off thread debate. Kudos to Daniel for this great idea, hope you can expand it to encompass other animal help groups as well

It's a tough call. Greater legislation of pet ownership will go a long way — that's something I know SPCA is pushing for.

No one wants to kill pets, especially healthy ones. But the reality is there is simply not enough room at all the shelters for all the abandoned animals. So "no-kill" shelter just turn animals away, which is what ASD and other "no-kill" shelters do, when they're full, which is most of the time, and when they can't also find fosterers. I do not envy the tough job the SPCA has.

Alamak Lai, it would have been quite adequate to say "thanks for the info - I'll pass on this occasion" ... I'm oni saying lorr :)

Hi Daniel, it's a great idea! I'm sorry I'm not supporting SPCA wholly as well. Looking forward for another trip like this to have the proceeds going to ACRES and/or the likes.

I don't have a solution. I'll just reiterate that I don't mean any offence at all. Like I say I appreciate that they try the best they can, but I don't agree wholeheartedly with what they do. That's just my two cents.

    Hi again Lai,
The SPCA save alot of animals lives and do alot of good. If you have a solution to the dogs and cats they can't save every month that gets delivered to SPCA please share.

Ah... I see. No disrespect to your fundraising effort or SPCA SG — I appreciate that they aim to be a 'kill less' shelter, but essentially that still means they are technically a kill shelter and that's a no go for me. Thank you for organising though — they could do with more help.
