New Meetup: The China Study (movie, food fair, talk and Q&A) / Lunch @ Taste of Natural

Joe G.
Announcing a new Meetup for The Singapore Vegetarian Meetup Group!

What: The China Study (movie, food fair, talk and Q&A) / Lunch @ Taste of Natural
When: July 18, 2009 12:00 PM
RSVP: http://www.meetup.com...

The China Study, is a groundbreaking book about nutrition and health, a culmination of a 20-year partnership between Cornell University, Oxford University and the Chinese Academy of Preventive Medicine. On Amazon.com ( http://www.amazon.com... ), its #84 on its bestsellers list, and has 576 reviews with 483 five-star ratings!

The Vegetarian Society of Singapore (VSS) - http://vss.sg/... has invited the book's author, Dr. Colin Campbell, to hold a talk and Q&A session right here in Singapore, and you're invited too!

Even from just reading a few chapters of The China Study, its startling findings have opened my eyes to the importance of good nutrition is to our short, and long-term health. In my humble opinion, this is one of the most, if not, the most important study on nutrition and health ever done.

The study examines more than 350 variables of health and nutrition with surveys from 6,500 adults in more than 2,500 counties across China and Taiwan. Based on these findings, the authors gave 8 principles of health and food, which you can find out more from Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.o... and during the talk.

If you don't have a copy of the book yet, don't fret! VSS has it available for sale during the talk.

And of course, what's a veggie meetup without DELICOUS FOOD?! :-)

We'll be dining at Taste of Natural this time, and from what i've heard, although its located at a food court, they serve affordable ($6 for a rice set), healthy and tasty food that's on par with what some vegetarian restaurants serve!

Craving for more delicious food? One of my favourite eateries in Singapore, Loving Hut, along with some of the top vegetarian restaurants in Singapore would be having food available for sale during the talk too!

What's more, members who RSVP for this meetup and buy the tickets for the talk would be given TWO $2.50 food vouchers for use during the event!

A living 112 year old legend, Singapore's own Teresa Hsu ( http://en.wikipedia.o... ) would also be holding a Q&A during the event. She's a well-known social worker, vegetarian, nurse, and if her birthdate is verified, she'll be #28 in the list of living supercentenarians ( http://en.wikipedia.o... ).

What we're going for on the 18th during the event itself:
1) Food fair run by the top vegetarian restaurants.
2) TWO $2.50 food vouchers.
3) Movie presentation, "Achieving Long-Term Health".
4) Q&A with Singapore's living legend, Teresa Hsu.
5) Talk by Dr. Colin Campbell (followed by Q&A)

Oh, and, one more thing...

*Only* for members of this meetup, for the first 20 members who RSVP through this site, and pay for the event tickets at SISTIC ( http://tr.im/reJh... ), and you can bring one more guest free to the event! Buy a ticket, get another free! :-)

To claim this benefit, after you purchase the ticket from SISTIC, email me ( xorandor@gmail.com ) the invoice and i'll add you to the list of people who will receive a free ticket (collected during the event).

All this, at just $21 for VSS members, and $33 for non-members (including SISTIC charges). If you're a VSS member already, email VSS ( chinastudy@vegetarian-society.org ) with your name and membership number for your discount code the SISTIC website.

BUT! There's also a special package, which includes The China Study book (retailing for $29.55) and event ticket - at just $40! That's less than $5 for each person attending with our special privilege - you can't even get a movie ticket with $5 these days!

Spend a life-changing afternoon with Professor Campbell and discover why The China Study has been hailed as “one of the most important books about nutrition ever written (and how) reading it may save your life.” - Dean Ornish, MD, author, Dr. Dean Ornish's Program for Reversing Heart Disease
