The biggest foodie trend is truck tucker -- we're not talking about rolling taquerias, we're talking about mobile cuisine at its finest. Now, you can sample from some of the area's greatest gourmets on wheels, all in one place.
UPDATE: There are just too many food vendors to list, but a few include Athena's Mediterranean, Barriga Llena, Ben & Jerry's, Big Boys Filipino, Box Nature Sushi, the Box on Wheels, Josefina's, Caravan Crepes, Celebrity Cake Studio, Chopstix, Contigo, Crisp Creperie, I Want Curry Now, Fish Basket, Gibson's Frozen Yogurt, Grilled Cheese Experience, Hilltop Pop Shop, Jamaican Sensation and Off the Rez.
Brewskis more your style? Microbreweries plying their wares this year are Deschutes Brewery, Lienenkugels Brewery, Harmon Brewery, Silver City Brewery, Schooner Exact, Seven Seas and Coors.
New this year: a Made in Tacoma vendor area including Dry Soda and Libertine Tacoma.
But wait...there's more! How about some of the coolest tunes in town? This year's lineup: Tiger Fighting Freemasons, Footrace Fiasco, Fistful of Dollars and Kladruby Gold.
The entire Cheney Stadium will be used for the festival, with a dessert line down the first base line, Made in Tacoma on the party deck and even a new wine garden for those who don't drink beer.
Only got $20 in your pocket? That'll do, because entrance to The Moveable Feast is free -- you just pay for what you eat (and help out on gas if you're a carpooler).
After racking up the calories, we'll head across the road to the Tacoma Nature Center. The mile walk around Snake Lake is fun, easy and scenic -- and also free! The nature center itself is closed on Sundays, but we can still enjoy the wetlands.
The festival has instituted a $5 parking charge, so do plan to carpool. (Riders, plan to give drivers $5 to cover gas, bridge toll and parking.) Please meet at the Albertsons off of Sedgwick Road in Port Orchard for an 11:30 a.m. departure; we will gather at the part of the parking lot that fronts Sedgwick Road. (If you're coming from the north, exit on Sedgwick Road, turn right at the light, go past Lowe's and Albertsons will be on your left.)
If you plan to meet us at the festival, please contact the organizer through the site to obtain a cell phone number.
