Weekday Daytime Boomer Activities

Six months ago we started a small scheduled presence two Wednesday afternoons per month to see what kind of interest these would attract.  Today we met to share a potluck, discuss our personal intentions, and to see if we were ready for any changes in the daytime activity offerings or structure.

We have decided that there has been plenty of participation to support a broader use of the daytime hours. And, more importantly, the participants are ready to step forward to host more activities than fit in our original small scheduled presence.  So we are opening ourselves to make use of more of the weekday daytime hours for Boomer activities.

Here are the guidelines we are following for now:

  1. We plan to continue the intimacy of a monthly meet-up that involves a snack or meal potluck and a discussion of a planned topic.  This will generally be scheduled for the first Wednesday afternoon of the month.  The topic for the next meeting will be decided by consensus at the end of each of these topical potlucks.  These will be round the circle discussions rather than a single leader presentation of a topic.
  2. Other daytime weekday activities will be scheduled by whomever has the interest to spearhead it, timed with respect to their own schedule, and attendance limitations set based on the host's view of the venue or logistics involved.
  3. This is an extension of the usual Boomer events to more of the daytime hours.  So usual Boomer policies apply.

So, hey, you folks with daytime hours to share, think about things you would like to see scheduled.  If you don't want to host it for some reason, email me through the site and maybe together we can interest someone else in hosting it.  If you would like to host an activity or other event (sharing of a skill of yours, a daytime movie, a mid-week hike,  a collaborative art experience, bowling, game day, book discussion, etc., etc., etc.) and need the assistance of an organizer to post it -- there are several with a daytime interest, such as myself, that will help you. Also, if you would like to host an event, don't have a specific event in mind, and would like some help thinking about what would be of interest, email me through the site and I can help you with that.
