South Mountain Hike - Pyramid Trail

I have to move the hike due to buisiness travel and start with cooler temps.

2012 fall hike. This is NOT a beginner hike but a medium level (about 2 hours total). This hike should probably not be your first hike of the year.

REMINDER: wear sun screan, bring your own water and good hiking shoes.

The Gila View Trail to the large cairn provides a great out and back hike from the 17th – 19th avenue areas north of Chandler Blvd. It’s fairly steep in certain sections so don’t expect an easy walk, but it’s only approximately 3.5 miles round trip so it’s short but sweet. The trail features great open views to the south with many switchbacks to assist in navigating the steep climb. The top of the climb you will be rewarded with excellent views of Ahwatukee Foothills, Gila River Indian Community and Club West.

Along the ridge line great views to the south or offered and on a clear day views of the mountains near Tucson are possible We will meet at the end of Chandler Blvd.

Dress correctly, wear comfortable shoes, and bring water. The vistas to the south are great for those camera buffs Parking is at the end of Chandler Blvd. at 19th ave.
