12th Annual Wild West Vintage Cowboy Ball

This event began as a birthday party for Betty Carter, who loves to dance with her husband, Doug. He'll likely have one of the tallest hats in the place. Part costume party, part prom for big people -  the dance floor will be swirling all night. Channel your inner Annie Oakley, Wild Bill Hickok, gunslinger, railroad engineer, Miss Kitty, Fess Parker...

Syd Masters & the Swing Riders will play at the Shriners Ballroom, 7-11pm. Cash bar, snacks, & costume contest. $15/person, advance tickets recommended via check to Betty Carter; contact Marcy for snail mail address or call Betty at[masked]-6207. Limited ticket sales for maximum dance floor. We can have a "singles table" or two. Once the dancing's done, the lights go down low for a real treat: Syd & the boys will do acoustic cowboy songs, just like around the campfire. Contact Marcy to get snail mail address for checks to Betty Carter, & you can pick up tickets at the door while checking your guns. Don't forget to purchase your own ticket - I've got mine!

Hallelujah on AC. I went a little over the top on a costume and would have been a puddle of blue and gold in a very short time. Those old timers were dressed for winter and certainly not spring or summer in NM. The music was totally superb and appropriate. Nice to hear music that you can actually understand the words. ONE SUPER EVENT! It's already on my calendar for next year. Thank you Marcy for providing the spark.

Wonderful costumes, music, dancing - & I was grateful for the company of some very nice women, along with Frank & Paul sharing their dancing selves among us. Maybe next year we can rustle up some dates & be on the floor all night needing that AC!

It was a very enjoyable event, with great music - the band was superb, and lots of wonderful people-in-their-costumes watching.

As of 3/30, I talked to Betty Carter & she has absolutely no tickets left. If you got left out, next year, commit to it early!

Advance tickets are by check to Betty Carter; contact Marcy for snail mail address, as I don't like to publish that stuff on internet. You can take a chance that they will still have tickets at the door - best thing to do if uncertain of attending - but sometimes they do sell out. I think they limit to 200 tickets to make sure there's dancing space.
