6100 Paseo Del Norte NE, Albuquerque, NM
Let's just hope there is plenty of snow and we will work up an appetite on this event. We'll carpool from Target up into the Jemez Mountains to what I think is called the Corral Trail on Hwy 4, just across from the Caldera. We'll snow shoe up the canyon until we find a place to make a fire and cook lunch. I'm going to bring bratwurst for myself with some small finger food to share. You bring what you like that can be cooked over an open fire in the snow. Don't bring any firewood as there should be plenty of dead wood in this area. Total driving distance will be about 80 miles one way. Total snowshoeing distance about 2-3 miles, half of it up hill. Cross country skiers are welcome as well. NO DOGS or WHINERS. Dress for the weather! If you need a little snort of brandy, that's not a problem. There will be some elevation gain but not sure how much. Remember we must pack out all our trash so bring a garbage bag for your trash. I would rate this event as Moderate to Strenuous due to elevation gain and depending on how much snow there is. We will get back late in the day, so if you have something for that night I would suggest that you skip this event. Be prepared to reimburse the drivers at the rate of $.10 per mile round trip or about $20.00 for the privilege of not having to drive. We will depart promptly at 9AM so be on time or be left! For questions and more information, ask it on this site and I'll get back to you.
