Awakening Yoga is a gentle 1 hour-long relaxation-based hatha yoga practice emphasizing control of the breath, focused awareness and enhancement of the mind-body connection. The session is led by Dr. Mona Lissa Chanda, a Ph.D. in Neurosciences (Pain Research) and a Certified Hatha Yoga Instructor. Participants are guided through a series of postures (mainly seated or lying down on the mat), with each person working at their own capacity. The slower pace of postures, breathing techniques and guided meditations promote relaxation and stimulate a state of physical and mental healing. Perfect for the first yoga experience. $7 admission for Meetup members only. We have a limited supply of mats (bring your own if you can!). Please come 10-15 min in advance of class start time.
