2016 Philanthropy Project- Non-Perishable Food Drive - #1 Dropoff

Saturday Dec. 3 marks the first of 2 drop-off locations, times, and dates for this year's philanthropic holiday project - A GOOD OL' FASHIONED NON PERISHABLE FOOD DRIVE.

This is an Open-House from 10am to 4 pm at my house , just off 75th Ave. in between Cactus Rd. and Peoria Av.

You can drop your items off here anytime in that 6 hour window on this Saturday.
If it is easier to bring these items to any Hump Day or any Friday night there is pool scheduled, those are  good options too.  Dec 16. would be the cut-off date for Wed. and Fri. drop-offs.

If cash is easier, you can donate that, as I can get an additional 10% off on Safeway brands, and I would purchase those items with any cash donations received.

The proceeds of this Food Drive will be given to My Father's House, an organization that caters to the needs of the  homeless and the impoverished families in our community.  We took our proceeds from our last 2 year's blanket and jacket drives to this organization, as well as the purses we assembled last year.

DON'T KNOW WHAT TO GET?   Kim sent me an email outlining things food banks need that you may or may not know are needed/wanted.   The suggestions in this article included spices, feminine hygiene items, canned meats, jerky, candy, socks, crackers, tortillas, soup, and canned fruits ( except pineapple it said).  If you're at a loss for choices, perhaps you could "shop" off of this list?

???, comments, concerns- ( email not received with the address by Dec 2.?) email me through the site- text or call[masked]-8889.

Thank you in advance for your help in this endeavor or any other goodhearted endeavor you may be a part of this Holiday Season.

XOXO

Laura

Some other suggestions from Linda Derouchey-Fennem who regularly volunteers at the food bank in Tonopah. Totally true, especially hygiene products. Also, household items like dish soap, toilet paper, shampoo, soap, toothpaste, tooth brushes, deodorant razors, shaving cream.
None of these essential daily needs can be purchased with food stamps (EBT).
