Skeptics in the Omnimax...and Ted Drewes

The STL Science Center is open late on Thursdays for the summer. Let's get together on Thursday, July 3rd for the 7:00pm viewing of the D-Day movie. Afterwards we can caravan to Ted Drewes for some skeptical talk over your favorite frozen custard. (Yes, I am trying to squeeze one more event in before TAM...so let's do it!)

Can't make it to the movie or not interested?  Then join us for Ted Drewes later!!  Movie time is 7pm and will be over by 8pm.  Ted Drewes ETA 8:30pm.

If you are going to attend the movie, please RSVP no later than Friday, June 27th. If we have a group of 10 or more, we can receive discounted movie tickets.

Just wanted to let everybody know that the D-Day movie is one of the best Omnimax movies I've seen. It's not focused on the personal stories of D-Day. Instead, it's focused on the planning and execution of the event, the equipment involved, the role of the French Resistance, the specifics of the German defenses and how the operation ended up changing the course of WWII. Even for a WWII fan like me, I learned new stuff and it was a really good summary of all of those history lessons from school!

I guess I'll head home and eat Fritz's frozen custard instead. :( Movie was great! Highly recommended!

Plenty of movie tickets still available. SLSC is not too crowded right now (5:35pm).

For those coming from the west, the Hampton exit is open. For those coming from the City, the Hampton exit is closed so get off at Kingshighway. There are parking lots and shuttles along Oakland, esp towards Hampton so expect some slow traffic. If you are a SLSC member, be sure to tell them when parking so you get free parking.

Picked up a bug a couple days ago, was hoping it would clear up, but it hasn't. I suspect no one has a desire to get it from me.

I'm sorry to change my response so late, but I won't be able to go after all. Have fun!

Yes, Fair STL will be going on the night of July 3rd so the free parking at the Planetarium will not be available. Consider carpooling. Also, as it turns out, the evening show rate is cheaper than the group rate. I was told the show will be $6 for adults. The show begins at 7pm but you will want to show up early to ensure you get tickets. You can always purchase online, but the online rate is $9 for adults (their online reservations don't factor in discounts). The Science Center will be open until 11pm because of Fair STL...just have no idea how many people will actually go to the Science Center as a result of the fair. Plan accordingly! See you all on Thursday! Look for a curly-haired girl wearing a St. Louis Skeptical Society tshirt - blue, skull & crossbones on the front; Carl Sagan quote on the back.
