Save the Date - Total Solar Eclipse 2017

  • West City Park

  • Save the Date! North America will experience a total solar eclipse on Monday, August 21, 2017. We are in luck as the path of totality is VERY close to us! But, here's how crazy it is - downtown STL, including the Arch, Busch Stadium, etc. are NOT in the path at all! To see it, we need to go south. I suggest we caravan to Festus, MO where we will be able to experience a full 2 minutes 36 seconds of totality.

The eclipse's partial phase begins right before noon that day (11:49am) and totality will begin at 1:17pm.

This is a BIG DEAL so it's going to be crazy. People from all over the world will be coming to our area to view the eclipse. I suggest an early start to Festus to give us plenty of drive time. We can picnic and chill.

Keep an eye on this website for additional information: You can even order your eclipse viewing sunglasses on this website!

More planning and information as we get closer to the date.

I'm very close to the maximum time of the eclipse and I teach astronomy so I have all the equipment needed to see it in Barnhart

It will be nice to get to meet others who think like me which is hard to do in the Midwest.
