Sounds like a good bet, but the 7 pm "Discussion Tactics," 7 pm same night takes priority this time.  Unfortunate.

Life as We Do not Know It: The NASA Search for (and synthesis of) Alien Life by Peter Ward, co-author with Donald Brownlee of Rare Earth.
Everyone is welcome.
"For the past twenty years, Peter Ward has been at the forefront of popular science writing, with books such as the influential and controversial Rare Earth. In Life as We Do Not Know It, Ward, with his signature blend of eloquence, humor, and learned insight, vividly details the latest scientific findings, cutting-edge research, and intrepid new theories on the subject of alien life and the possible extraterrestrial origins of life on Earth. In lucid, entertaining, and bold prose, Peter Ward once again challenges our notions of life on earth (and beyond)." Amazon book description
Longbranch Steakhouse 9095 Metcalf, at 91st OVP, KS 66212 - it re-opened less than 1 month ago under new ownership. 19:00 (07:00 PM) Tuesday 2013Jan22 - I am going to try to get the side room; it shouldn't be busy on a Tuesday evening. They will expect you to buy something.
John Millam will be doing the presentation. John is a theoretical chemist and has a personal interest in the issues discussed in the book. This should be an interesting evening. John can usually be counted on to participate during the P&P meetups. This time, we can discuss a topic for more than 5 minutes. If you haven't read the book, but are interested in the topic, come out anyway. Many of us are omnivores, but, we don't usually bite.

Good luck may be undeserved, but so is a lot of bad luck.
