Americans United sent out an email today in which they mentioned an attempt by a state legislator in North Carolina to reject any Federal court decisions that involve separation of church and state on the premise that the First Amendment (at least the part about religion) does not apply to the states.  A state religion would be a boost for nonbelievers--look what happened in Europe.
