Sketching The Palace of Gold @ New Vrindaban, West Virginia
Still hashing out details --- meetup not yet announced. The Palace of Gold is a tourist spot well known for its opulence and magnificent exterior architectural details covered in gold leaf. Not to mention the amazing sculptures in marble, teakwood, and gold, including a life-size realistic marble sculpture of Swami Prabupada (the man for whom this temple was built and dedicated) himself. The Temple follows the ISKCON tradition (more commonly known as Hare-Krishnas), and is located in a town dedicated to this entire tradition. Our entire outing for this meetup would not involve any religious rituals, practices, or philanthropic undertakings (unless one is personally inclined to do so on their own). This trip is an opportunity (about an hour outside the city) to sketch an unique monument with out fellow sketchers outside the confines of our usual urban surroundings. Let's challenge what we know! Push our boundaries!

    What we're about

Celebrate the magic of sketchbooks, drawing, and creative observation. A community to grow and foster sketchbook skills, habits, and confidence. Social events will be regular but not rigid, sort of like what you hope your journaling to be. Or maybe you just want to meet people who keep sketchbooks because so many great minds in history kept their thoughts a sketchbook.
