  • Feb 16-19, 2018 Presidents 3-Day Weekend Stowe VT ( Mansfield Peak ) $495

Trip Price: $495 ( Required Deposit: $100 ) About Stowe Stowe Mountain Resort is the definition of the luxury Eastern resort, and provides quality skiing and riding for all levels. The area's lift system includes a gondola to shuttle guests between Mount Mansfield, Vermont's highest peak, and its "sister" mountain, Spruce Peak. Stowe benefits from its location on Mt. Mansfield with 333 inches of average annual snowfall over its 2,160 foot vertical drop and 485 acres of skiable terrain. Downhill For the Downhill crowd, Stowe Mountain Resort has the longest average trail length of 4 miles in the East, and a total of 116 trails. At 4,395 ft. summit elevation, Mt. Mansfield is the highest peak in Vermont, offering snowboarders and skiers access to some of the most challenging trails (the Front Four ) in Vermont via the Fourrunner Quad. Beginners and intermediates might feel more comfortable on the slopes off the 8-passenger gondola () or at neighboring Spruce Peak, only minutes away via a gondola. Stowe is known as one of the best free riding mountains in America, but for some it's all about the half pipe and terrain park and Stowe delivers the goods for that crowd as well. Cross-Country Stowe Mountain Resort's Cross Country Ski Center offers 45 km of groomed trails and 30 km of backcountry terrain. The rental shop offers a full menu of nordic snowsport gear including snowshoes, touring gear, performance skate ski and classic ski packages, backcountry and telemark gear. Three miles from the ski center is the Trapp Family Lodge, where you can relax by the fire at the Slayton Pasture Cabin or head farther to the Austrian Tea Room or to the Lodge itself for an elegant lunch. Lodging Our home for the weekend is the Commodores Inn. Set on beautiful tree-studded grounds, this 30-acre private lakeside setting at the edge of Stowe Village combines the best of all worlds: comfort, modern facilities and old-fashioned Vermont hospitality. After skiing, enjoy the inn's heated indoor swimming pool, sauna and jacuzzi, or relax in front of the living room fireplace in the hotel lobby, or share your day's adventures with others in the lounge. The dining room serves plentiful breakfasts and dinners allowing us to make the most of each ski day. As if all this weren't enough, The Inn is just a few minutes by shuttle ride from the ski area and the center of the historic village of Stowe, with its white-steepled churches, quaint general stores, antique shops and boutiques. During your stay, you can travel with our group or plan a day on your own using the town shuttle to go back and forth. Trip Details Our $495 per person package includes: • Bus transportation to and from NYC and between lodging and ski venues each day. • Double occupancy lodging (we will pair you with a roommate of the same gender if you are on your own, in a room with two beds ) • 3 breakfasts & 2 dinners from the hotel's buffet • The opportunity to ski/ride for three full days ( Sat/Sun/Mon ), as we leave on Monday afternoon straight from the Mt. Sorry - This trip had to be CANCELLED on 1/5/18 Trip Price: $475 ( Required Deposit: $100 ) About Killington Killington Resort, one of most popular premier ski resorts on the East Coast, spans six mountains and features 155 trails all served by 22 lifts, including two gondolas. "The Beast of the East" benefits from a 4,241 foot peak elevation, an impressive 600-acre snowmaking system as well as over 250 inches of average annual snowfall. The newly constructed Peak Lodge offers great views, food, and fireplaces at the top of the K-1 gondola. Killington's terrain ( http://www.killington.com/site/mountain/trail_map/winter ) is extremely diverse, ranging from gentle groomers (Great Eastern, Great Northern) and learning areas by the Snowshed base lodge to single and double black diamonds runs ( Superstar, Double Dipper ), steep mogul runs ( Outer Limits ), and gladed trails ( Chop Chop ), as well as some of the best terrain parks ( boxes, rails, jumps ) in the northeast. Killington offers more terrain, more variety, more lifts and more snow than any other area we visit. Being relatively close to New York means a shorter trip each way, and lodging at the resort means more time to enjoy the snow. Lodging We stay at the Mountain Inn ( http://mtinn.com/ ) , a relaxing inn on the Killington access road, just a short ride or walk to/from Snowshed base. Those wanting to start or end their day at any of the other four bases can use the free shuttle bus to get to and from our Inn. The shuttle will also take you up and down the access road so you can shop and enjoy the Killington nightlife. Since we are staying at the resort, you can come and go as you please. Amenities Aside from the convenience of its location, our hotel has the comforts of a sauna and a heated outdoor pool. Each day starts with breakfast served in the downstairs dining room. If you don’t feel like going out after skiing, you can relax in the hotel’s friendly bar/lounge, with a roaring fire and live music. Please register with REI here (https://www.rei.com/event/2017-rei-soho-pray-for-snow-vip-registration/new-york/190843) if you are interested in going. Update 11/15: EVERYONE is welcome, even if you have not registered (or were waitlisted) through the REI link above! You will be asked to register when you arrive - just let them know you are there with the Ski & Snowboard Club of New York. A few of us will be staffing a table where you are welcome to help us answer questions from people interested in our trips - or just stop by and say hi. ALSO - If you are interested in representing our club in their retro-fashion show of 80’s and 90’s skiwear (if you still own any), let me know in the comments for this meetup and I'll get you the details. There are prizes of vendor swag and the show will take place in the last half-hour of the party (after 8:30) when all the models will take a walk down the runway. Here is REI's description of the evening: "Throw on your retro skiwear and let's rally the snow! It's time once again for the Pray for Snow bash hosted by REI. This fun-filled evening includes beer, food, music, a fashion contest, and your favorite top snow gear brands all under one roof. We will be screening a ski flick, and offering lots of rad prizes! Stay tuned for more details as they develop! This is a party you won't want to miss." Sounds like fun, doesn't it? Hope to see you there!
