SUMMARY:Lake Louise Hostel Trip - 3 day hikes - Relaxed Pace
DESCRIPTION:Slow and Steady Hikers\nEvery year I like to do a Lake Louise
Hostel and hiking trip. This year\, I've decided to do it a bit later in t
he year\, hoping for cooler temperatures.\n\nYou must have hiked with me s
everal times before to qualify for this trip. I have booked a four bed (bu
nk bed) room so far. I can book more\, if needed. Preference goes to those
who will stay at the hostel Monday to Friday and go on all three day hike
 s. Please sign up and answer the questions on the waitlist. Once approved\
, please book a bed in the hostel either through me or with the hostel dir
ectly. Please book the fully refundable rate in case of poor weather or un
forseen emergencies.\n\nI have three spots available in my room for women.
I have a membership\, so the full cost is $105 per person per night or $4
20 for all four nights. Preference goes to those staying all four nights.
If we break up the nights\, it will be like a hotel\, check out before hik
e in morning\, check in after hike in afternoon. Your bed is confirmed onc
e you have been accepted on the hike and have e-transferred me the cost of
the room. Room fee is non refundable unless\, you drop out far enough ahe
ad that I can find someone else to take your spot (who is approved for the
hike) or the entire event is cancelled (then full money returned). Once a
pproved for the event\, you can book your own private or group room or bed
separately through the hostel\, if you choose.\n\nThere is a minimum of 4
and a maximum of 12 participants. As mentioned above\, everyone\nmust hav
e hiked with me before and be a member. No guests\, no children\, no dogs.
\n\nIf the hostel group does not have 12 people\, I will later post the da
y hikes individually and people can drive out for the day.\n\nThe plan is:
 \n\nArrive Monday afternoon\, settle in\, explore\, supper in Bill Peyto's
Cafe or downstairs kitchen\, maybe a campfire.\n\nTuesday - hike to Lake
Agnes Tea House (stop for tea and biscuits!)\n\nWednesday - hike to Plain
of Six Glaciers Tea House (stop for tea and biscuits!)\n\nThursday - hike
 a larch hike\, maybe Eiffel Lake?\n\nFriday - check out and drive home\n\n
As happens every year\, there is no guarantee we will see larches. We cros
s our fingers and hope they are golden yellow the first week of October. I
am not responsible for the weather or the larch trees.\n\nTo get to the l
ake\, we will be walking to Lake Louise Village and taking the $2 Roam bus
up to the lake. Please have $4 per day change available.\n\nIf there is i
nterest\, we can book a beautiful afternoon tea at Chateau Lake Louise for
Friday afternoon. Dresses\, suits\, civilized behaviour required. $125 to
$230 per person\, if you choose the sparkling wine to Dom Perignon option
 s. It is fabulous! Also\, possibly\nto rent canoes on Lake Louise for a ho
ur or two.\n\nMore details\, hike elevation and distance\, etc. to follow.
\n\nCarpooling strongly recommended. Recommended gas fee is $35. Drivers/p
assengers must have a Banff Park Pass. I have 3 available seats in my car
from my home in Cochrane (safe street parking) or the Petro at Hwy 1 and 2
 2. Passengers in my car must be staying Monday to Friday\, but do not need
to be staying in my room.\n\nMeals are at your own expense\, either in Bi
ll Peyto's Cafe or prepared yourself in the large\, fully stocked kitchens
at the hostel.\n\nPlease ask if you have questions.\n\nBear spray and cam
eras recommended. Lunch\, snacks\, 2-3 litres of water plus electrolytes\,
  poles\, changes of clothes\, medications\, waterproof hiking boots\, gait
ers\, required. Water purification tablets\, a headlamp with new batteries
\, first aid kit\, tensor bandage\, and emergency silver blanket are recom
mended in case things don't go to plan. Extra socks and plastic bags for y
our boots are also useful. A water bladder you can drink while you hike\,
plus a backup water bottle is ideal\n\nPlease read the slow and steady wai
ver and code of conduct in advance. You will sign in agreeing to the condi
tions of the waiver at the trailhead and leave an emergency contact name a
nd number. You agree to follow slow and steady policies\, listen to the or
ganizer\, treat everyone with respect\, do your own research on the hikes\
, come prepared\, and recognize that your organizers are volunteers who pu
t in a lot of their own time to plan and lead these hikes for you

SUMMARY:Ha Ling Peak\, relaxed pace
DESCRIPTION:Slow and Steady Hikers\nHa Ling is one of the most popular hik
es in the Canmore area because it is easy to access and provides panoramic
views of the Bow Valley. Although it is technically a scramble\, because
it involves the ascent of a peak\, Ha Ling is primarily a steep hike. Ther
e is some scree near the top but most of the trip is on an established tra
il. However\, it does gain about 810 meters in about 7.8 km. It is basical
ly short but steep. This trip is suitable for experienced hikers who are c
omfortable with gaining a lot of elevation in a short period of time\, and
who are comfortable with varied terrain: steep trail\; stairs\; loose scr
 ee\; rocky sections.\n\n**Distance**: 7.8 km return\n**Elevation gain**: 8
 10 m\n**Trail:** out and back\; trail 3\n**Pace**: Slow to moderate\; not
