Meet other local fans of Disc Golf, a combination of Frisbee and golf. Make new friends while learning to play this game.
Disc Golf is an exceptionally mellow game, as you walk the parks and serene outdoor areas where the courses are located. It is also a way to help keep green & open spaces in our neighborhoods.
We welcome players of all skill levels whether you've never played before and want to give it a try, or you're a vetted tournament player. The more experienced players are always more than happy to give tips and pointers to new players, and we love guiding players to their first rounds at a course they've never played.
When we meetup, we play at least 2 rounds. The first round is a singles round, and the second is doubles.
We try to cover all of the courses in LA, Orange, San Bernardino and Riverside counties, and occasionally will travel out to San Diego and Ventura Counties. We try to put the courses into a rotation so we hit all of the courses, and, with few exceptions, we generally do not repeat a course within about 10-12 weeks. In the summer, we escape the heat by heading up to Sky High in Wrightwood once a month, rather than play the IE courses, which get stiflingly hot. But we will make sure to play those courses in the cooler months, as well as heading down to San Diego county.
We also try to do 3 camping trips a year. We camp at Wrightwood twice a year, once at the beginning of the season then again at the close (just before the ski/snowboard season starts). And we camp at Lake Casitas (outside of Ojai, CA) during winter.
Like most disc golf we do have bagtags. The bagtags are numbered 1-70. Everyone puts the bagtags in at the end of the singles round, and the lowest tag goes to the best score. However, since we are a traveling club, the prerequisite for earning a bagtag is attendance at least 5 weekend meetups at 3 different courses. And, if a bagtag holder is no longer able to attend the meetups, we respectfully request that the bagtag be returned, so we can put it back into rotation.
