Sitting and Walking Meditation, Relaxation!
If you are interested in trying meditation join us - the Los Angeles Compassionate Heart Sangha - for Welcoming Day the first Sunday of every month, where beginners are welcome! We'll offer basic introduction to sitting and walking meditation in the Zen Buddhism in the tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh. Join us for tea and treats. Free. We are centrally located in Echo Park at 345 Douglas Street, LA, CA 90026. Walk down the driveway to the left of the green house - we are in the purple studio in the back. Parking is on the street. There is usually some on Court St., which is half a block away. We are a warm and eclectic group of people of all ages and ethnicities practicing Zen Buddhism in the tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh. We vary in our experience with meditation and the overall study of Buddhism but share a commonality of purpose in our sincere desire to engage in mindfulness, compassion and loving kindness in our daily lives. Our weekly Sangha meetings support each other's practice of the Dharma. Check out our Facebook Group for the latest events. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Los-Angeles-Compassionate-Heart-Sangha/74408785478 "The seed of mindfulness is in each of us, but we usually forget to water it. If we know how to take refuge in our breath, in our step, then we can touch our seeds of peace and joy and allow them to manifest for our enjoyment." Thich Nhat Hanh

What we're about

Public Group

We practice mindfulness in the tradition of Zen Buddhist teacher Thich Nhat Hanh. We will occasionally join the local Sanghas that meet once a week. We also practice mindfulness in nature with Gaia Sangha: sometimes that is a meditative beach clean up, or a walk in Griffith Park. We will also meet up for special events like Thich Nhat Hanh's public talk in Pasadena or retreats at Deer Park monastery. We vary in our experience with meditation and the study of Buddhism, but share a common desire to engage in mindfulness, compassion and loving kindness in our daily lives. Beginners are welcome. Visit the following link to learn about the local sangha called Compassionate Heart: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/lachsangha/ You can e-mail questions to gaiasangha@live.com. If you are like me and send a lot of meetup mail to a folder you don't check very often, but would like to hear about mindfulness in nature events, email gaiasangha@live.com with SUBSCRIBE in the subject line. Wishing you peace.
