  • In this special addition of Software Circus, we'll be bringing different people together to investigate different tools, including Weave Cloud and Red Hat's OpenShift. Experts from Weave, Containers Solutions and Red Hat will be on hand to lead the hackathon and transfer knowledge about containerised microservices, orchestrators and application abstraction.

    Socks Shop
This hackathon will focus on the perfect microservice application, 'Socks Shop'. We'll write containerised microservices and continually deploy them with Weave Cloud. We'll use Docker for Mac or Minikube for local development. We'll look at how we can secure our applications.

Participants (as well as having a lot of fun) can expect to:

    • Learn about microservice systems and how to architect them properly.

    • Kubernetes and/or Open DC/OS.

    • Local development with Docker for Mac or Minikube.

    • Docker containers.

    • Software defined networking using Weave Net.

    • Trouble shooting production clusters with Weave Scope.

Throughout the day, experts from Weave and Container Solutions will be on hand to help. At 17:00 (ish) we'll end the hackathon before looking back at the day at what we learnt and what can be improved. We'll have drinks and snacks throughout the day.

Places are strictly limited. And remember, Software Circus' purpose is to move our understanding of tech forward in a safe, diverse and welcoming environment. Come one, come all.
