#MeetupAmerica - East of Medford Foothills Walk!

This walk is a loop and about 4.25 miles with less than 400 feet of elevation gain. Allow two hours.

We will walk through a beautiful piece of rural Southern Oregon with nice views of the Rogue Valley and the surrounding mountains.

We meet at the Rogue Federal Credit Union East Medford Branch Parking Lot almost directly across the street from Albertsons another favorite meetup location.

We will begin our walk by heading east on a very lightly traveled portion of Barnett Road into the foothills south of RoxyAnn Peak and Prescott Park.

The only major climb is at about the 1.3 mile mark. Barnett Road turns south and climbs for about one quarter mile.

At the top is a small residential area. Turn right toward Dragonfly Vineyard. Santa Barbara Drive descends to Coalmine Road.

Turn right on Coalmine Road, and then right onto N. Phoenix Road to our starting point. The final stretch is busy at times. Be mindful and use sidewalks where they are available.

From Meetup Headquarters:

After this year’s election, it’s time to talk. Be heard. Listen. Learn. Connect. Understand. Improve. Act. Anyone is invited, and everyone is welcome to participate in this Meetup.

It was a great first hike with the group! And yes, very nice that we beat the rain. Thanks for organizing this walk Chris - I was very happy to walk a part of Medford that I had never seen.

Thanks Chris for organizing the hike...obviously one of my girls (Sunday the Yellow Lab) was overly ecstatic about the "venue"!

This hike sounds great, but I already have a commitment to take my 94 year old friend to see the Festival of Trees! Hope to catch a nice easy, low elevation hike in the future with you all.

I will be there! This is good for me to start with, coming off that 3 week flu bug. Also, i only have good walking tennis shoes. Possibly you all can give me advice on the best hiking shoe to purchase for the future. Thanks!

Sorry I cannot make this due to prior commitment; I like a 2-4 mile on fairly level grounds; just right for me!

I have a prior afternoon commitment, hopefully next time.
