This hike is 3 miles round trip with 300 feet of elevation gain. There are some patches of snow to cross with some puddles, and mud from snow melt. Walking poles are helpful for balance. Come prepared with layered clothing. There is a restroom and a fire lookout at the top of Dutchman Peak at 7,418 feet elevation.

We'll meet at 10:30am in front of the Jacksonville Library close to the parking lot. Carpooling is recommended because it is a little over an hour to the trailhead.

We'll take Highway 238 to Ruch. A second meetup location can be arranged at the Ruch Country Store for anyone coming from Grants Pass.

From Ruch, we'll head south on Upper Applegate Road 9.2 miles to National Forest Road 20 (NF 20) which is also called Siskiyou Summit Road (and Beaver Creek Road).

Once on NF 20, it's 16 miles to the parking pullout on the right at the summit. There are a few intersections along the way. It is important to be mindful to stay on NF 20. After about 6 miles, the pavement ends, and the remaining miles are gravel. The road is in good condition.
