Spend 8 amazing days exploring Russia’s two most important cities and their world-renowned landmarks. Begin your Highlights of Russia Tour in stunning St. Petersburg, where you will visit the famous Hermitage Museum, a number of beautifully decorated cathedrals, and the best food market in the city. Take a day trip to Pushkin to admire the intricately adorned Catherine’s Palace and its huge garden grounds. Travelling south by train, you will reach the countries capital, Moscow. Here you will explore Russia’s ‘heart and soul’ at UNESCO World Heritage Site, The Red Square, marvel at the iconic St. Basil’s Cathedral, and navigate around the stunning Moscow Metro.
Day 1 – Saturday 18th July 2020 - Arrive St. Petersburg
Today is an arrival day so there are no planned activities. If you arrive in time, you can join your tour leader and the rest of the group for dinner to get to know your fellow travellers!
Day 2 – Sunday 19th July 2020 - St. Petersburg
After breakfast at the hotel, you will begin your city tour of St. Petersburg. You will start with a walk through the cobbled streets of the Dostoevsky Quarter before heading to one of the best food markets in the city, the Kuznechny Market, which supplies some of St. Petersburg’s top restaurants. From here, you will visit the House of St. Peter the Great, St. Peter’s & Paul Cathedral, and the Church on Spilled Blood, and then have the afternoon free to further explore the city. Overnight in St. Petersburg.
Day 3 – Monday 20th July 2020 - St. Petersburg
After breakfast at the hotel, you will be travelling 30km south of St. Petersburg to Pushkin where you will visit Catherine Palace, a huge palace named after Catherine I, wife of Peter the Great. The palace is nearly 1km in circumference, and every inch is beautifully decorated – not to be missed! You will then be transferred back to the city and the afternoon will be spent at your leisure. Overnight in St. Petersburg.
Day 4 – Tuesday 21st July 2020 - St. Petersburg / Moscow
After breakfast, you will need to check out of your hotel and store your bags in the luggage room. You will then head to the impressive Hermitage Museum, home of Russian art and culture, and one of the oldest and largest museums in the world. Afterwards, you will visit Saint Isaac’s Cathedral, whose dome still dominates St. Petersburg’s skyline, and from where you will have amazing panoramic views of the city – if you can manage the 211 steps! You will then head back to your hotel to pick up your luggage, and walk to St. Petersburg’s Train Station (5-minute walk from hotel) to catch the high-speed train to Moscow. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel for check-in. Overnight in Moscow.
Day 5 – Wednesday 22nd July 2020 - Moscow Full Day Tour
After breakfast, you will begin your full day city tour of Moscow’s historical centre, starting with a tour of the incredible Moscow Metro. You will then visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Red Square, arguably the heart and soul of Russia. From here, you will visit the Novodevichy Convent, which was built in the 16th and 17th centuries. The convent is a classic example of Russian architecture and is also home to several important paintings and artefacts. Next, you will take a stroll down the famous Arbat Street, where you will be able to pick up some souvenirs, or just relax and have a coffee. Overnight in Moscow. (Please note this is a full day tour and requires a lot of walking).
Day 6 - Thursday 23rd July 2020 - Moscow
Today will be spent at your leisure. Overnight in Moscow.
Day 7 – Friday 24th July 2020 - Moscow
After breakfast at the hotel, you will make a visit to the Kremlin and explore the beautiful churches inside. You will also visit Saint Basil’s Cathedral, perhaps Moscow’s most iconic building, before spending the afternoon at your leisure to further explore the city. Dinner will be arranged for your last night of the tour. Overnight in Moscow.
Day 8 – Saturday 25th July 2020 - Depart Moscow
After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport for international flights home.
Cost of trip is just £899.00 based on sharing a twin room and a non refundable deposit of £150.00 via bank transfer will secure your place. This price is valid until 1st March 2020. Trips sell out quickly as places are limited, so don’t miss out. Reserve your space on payment of just a deposit. On payment of deposit please email me with your full name as per passport and country of issue, together with your full address and postcode so that a financial protection certificate can be issued as all monies paid are financially protected under ATOL/TTA. A Visa is required for Russia and we will obtain a visa support letter so that you can get your visa processed through the visa centre in London - you must have a validity of a minimum of 6 months on your passport from the date of arrival. Travel insurance is essential. Flights not included. Do not book your flights until we have a minimum of 5 people paid deposits.

Please be aware that this is a very fast-paced trip that requires a lot of walking and sightseeing to ensure you get the most out of your visit to Russia. You will also be required to carry your own bags from the hotel to the train station in St. Petersburg (5-minute walk).
If you wish to see the Russian Ballet at the Mariinsky or Bolshoi Theatre, it's best to book in advance as performances get booked up.
