DAY 1: MON 26 DEC 2016: BANGKOK ARRIVAL (-)
Upon arrival at the airport and after clearing immigration and customs, meet with your guide and transfer to the hotel for check in. Overnight in Bangkok.
DAY 2: TUE 27 DEC 2016: BANGKOK-AYUTTHAYA-LOBURI-PHITSANULOK (B/L)
7.30 am Pick up from Hotel Bangkok. Travel to Ayutthaya. Continue visiting the Temple Phranang Choeng, Yai Chai, Mongkol Temple and the Ayutthaya Historical Park world heritage. Transfer to visit shrines and Lopburi style of Khmer, with a stop at Phra Sam Yot. After lunch, continue to Phitsanulok. Check in hotel and overnight in Phitsanulok.
DAY 3: WED 28 DEC 2016: PHITSANULOK – SUKHOTHAI–SRI SATCHANALAI–LAMPANG (B/L)
7.30 am Leave Hotel. We’ll see the Buddha Chinnarat considered the finest in Thailand. Depart for Sukhothai Historical Park, whose remains have been classified as World Heritage of Humanity. This magnificent site is easily accessible by bike, this is how we suggest you to visit. Visit Sukhothai national museum, historical park and Wat Sri Chum and Wat Srisawai.
Depart Sukhothai for Sri Satchanalai Historical Park, declared by UNESCO as a world heritage site. Lunch at local restaurant. Continue drive to Lampang, stay overnight at Lampang.
DAY 4: THU 29 DEC 2016: LAMPANG–LAMPHUN–CHIANG MAI (B/L)
In the morning, pick up from your hotel and transferto the only city in the country where horse carts still provide public transportation, and we have a short carriage ride on the local market to Baan Sao Nak - drawn carriage. And then visit Wat Don Tao; is the most important temple in the city of Lampang.
Visit Wat Lampang Luang Phrathat, a Lanna-style Buddhist temple in Lampang. Departure to Lamphun to visit Wat Phra That Hariphunchai Woramahawiharn, the one of the most important temples of the North which was builtduring the reign of King Arthitayarat some 800 years ago.
Enjoy your lunch time at local restaurant. Continue driving to Chiang Mai through different parts of the city, passing old City walls, gates and city moat, markets, residential areas, foreign Consulates, Government buildings and Tapae, Chiang Mai’s main street. Drive up Doi (Mount) Suthep to visit Wat Phrathad Doi Suthep(A.D.1384) 3500 feet above sea-level and Wat Phra Singh.
DAY 5: FRI 30 DEC 2016: CHIANG MAI TOUR (B/L)
After breakfast, head out on an excursion to visit an elephant working site located at Mea Taman, Chiang Dao District, approximately 70km from Chiang Mai. Upon arrival, visit the elephant working camp and see the talent show from Elephants. Lunch is on site at the camp. Afterwards, board bamboo rafts along a very picturesque stretch of the Mea Ping River to see the beautiful scenery down the river. Continue to Baan Tong Luang, a Hill Tribe cultural preservation village near Chiang Mai, advertised as an Eco-Agriculture project.
DAY 6: SAT 31 DEC 2016: CHIANG MAI – LUANG PRABANG (B)
Free time until the transfer to airport for flight departure. On arrival at the airport, you will be met and transferred to check in the hotel. You are then free to stroll around the town. Overnight in Luang Prabang.
DAY 7: SUN 01 JAN 2017: LUANG PRABANG – PAK OU CAVES (B)
Today, you will first visit Royal Palace Museum. We then embark on the a leisure cruise upstream on the Mekong River before reaching the mysterious Pak Ou Caves, two linked caves crammed with thousands of gold lacquered Buddha statues of various shapes and sizes left by pilgrims. Along the way, we stop at the village of Ban Xanghai, where they make the local rice wine.
On arrival back in the city, we will visit magnificent Wat Xiengthong Afterwards, we will visit the Traditional Art and Ethnology Center to learn about Laos’ many ethnic cultures. Transfer to visit Wat Siphouthabaht to admire the sunset. The tour ends after a visit to the famous Night Market. Overnight in Luang Prabang.
DAY 8: MON 02 JAN 2017: LUANG PRABANG – KUANG SI WATERFALLS (B)
An optional early start gives you the fantastic opportunity to participate in the daily morning rituals of saffron-clad monks collecting offerings of Alms (ubiquitous sticky rice) from the faithful residents. From there, we will take a short visit to the morning local market near the Royal Palace.
We ascend the 329 steps to the top of Phousi Hill for a panoramic view of the city and the Mekong River. We then visit Wat Visoun, this is Luang Prabang’s oldest temple and was once home to the Prabang Buddhas. We then transfer directly to the beautiful Kuang Si Waterfall.
Before returning to Luang Prabang, we stop to visit the Kuang Si Falls Butterfly Park (closed on Tuesday). We will take a short visit to the Ock Pop Tock Living Craft Center.
Overnight in Luang Prabang.
DAY 9: TUE 03 JAN 2017: LUANG PRABANG –VANG VIENG (B)
In the morning, we travel by road south to Vang Vieng. Our intrepid journey will be strenuous as we drive along one of the most scenic, but also a road that is pot holed in places. Along the way, we will make some stop to visit local villages of H’Mong ethnic groups. We will stop over at to enjoy the panoramic view over the region at the peak of Sala Phoukhoun, the highest peak of the northern Laos. Our next photo stop is Phatang Mountain view point to admire the beautiful scenery before reaching Vang Vieng. Check in your hotel. Overnight in Vang Vieng.
DAY 10: WED 04 JAN 2017: VANG VIENG EXPLORATION (B)
Your tour begins by crossing the Nam Song River for a short drive to Tham Pou Kham (Golden Crab Cave). After passing through a small entrance hole you descend 100 meters into the ground. Your guide will bring a picnic lunch .
Considered by many as Vang Vieng's most important cave, Tham Chang (or Jang) became the home for migrating people, who settled near the town's southern Meuang Xong Village to raise vegetables. Because its high location offered perfect views of Vang Vieng, the entire village moved there to sit out the war, and named their haven 'Tham Jang' (Hang Around Cave)
Overnight in Vang Vieng.
DAY 11: THU 05 JAN 2017: VANG VIENG – NAM NGUM – VIENTIANE (B)
After breakfast, we head out of the city and make our way to Nam Ngum, a huge reservoir created by damming the Nam Ngum River. We stop over at Ban Keun, which is famous for its salt extraction plant and a village that distills the local Lao whiskey. On arrival at Nam Ngum Lake, we embark on a long tail boat enjoying a leisurely cruise on the lake and having lunch on boat. We have ample time enjoying the cold drink at one of the bar overlooking the lake before driving back to Vientiane. Overnight in Vientiane.
DAY 12: FRI 06 JAN 2017: VIENTIANE – CITY TOUR – BUDDHA PARK (B)
In the morning, we will first visit Wat Si Muang, which is very famous for its supernatural power. After that drive to Buddha Park, also known as Xieng Khuan, this unusual park is filled with over 200 Buddhist and Hindu statues. Drive back to Vientiane. En route, stop at Mai Savanh to explore the traditional textiles of the Lao people.
Afternoon visit to That Luang, the holiest site in Laos. Then, enjoy a panoramic view over the city as you climb the stairs to the top of Patuxai, Vientiane’s own “Arc de Triomphe”.
Continue down Lane Xang Avenue the serene Wat Sisaket. Continue on to the nearby Wat Phra Keo. Used as a religious museum, Wat Phra Keo displays a collection of both Lao and Khmer works of art.
Overnight in Vientiane.
DAY 13: SAT 07 JAN 2017: VIENTIANE – PAKSE – DON KHONG (B)
Take the morning flight to Pakse. Upon arrival, we transfer to Champasak to vist Wat Phou
Recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, Wat Phou is a spectacular pre-Angkorian temple that sits amidst the rice fields and waterways of southern Laos. The temple was built by the rulers of the Khmer empire before the construction of Angkor Wat. The temple served as the most important economic and political centre of the region and still is one of the Lao people’s most revered temples.
After your visit, we continue in to Champassak to see samples of French colonial architecture before driving to Done Khong where you have the rest of the day to relax or to explore the island. Overnight in Don Khong Island.
DAY 14: SUN 08 JAN 2017: DON KHONG – 4000 ISLANDS – PAKSE (B)
Heading out of town we embark on a long tail boat for venturing into the widest reach of the Mekong River, where during the dry season the waters recede and leave behind thousands of islets, giving this area a lovely name” Si Phan Done”. Upon arrival, explore the local peaceful villages of Ban Khone, including old French colonial buildings and the remnants of the first Lao railway with its locomotive. We continue to discover the 4000 islands area by tuktuk and visit the marvelous Liphi waterfall. If we are lucky, we may even see the rare freshwater Irrawaddy Mekong dolphin at Ban Hang Khone. We return to the mainland at the fishing village of Ban Nakasang and drive further south to visit Khone Phapheng. Khone Phapheng is considered the largest waterfall by volume in South East Asia; this is a really impressive near the Lao-Cambodian border. Drive back to Pakse. Overnight in Pakse.
DAY 15: MON 09 JAN 2017: PAKSE – BANGKOK (B)
You are free to stroll around before taking the departure flight to Bangkok for overnight
DAY16: TUE 10 JAN 2017- DEPART BANGKOK (B)
